Four Heavenly Kings :

The Four Heavenly Kings are prominent protector deities (Lokapalas) in Buddhist cosmology, residing in the Cāturmahārājika heaven on the lower slopes of Mount Meru. Each deity is tasked with watching over one of the four cardinal directions of the world, defending the Dharma (Buddhist teachings), and warding off malevolent forces.

In the ancient sacred language of Sanskrit, they are designated as the Chaturmahārāja (चतुर्महाज) or Chaturmahārājikādeva. In East Asian Buddhist traditions and Chinese mythology, they are collectively known by the symbolic phrase "Fēng Tiáo Yǔ Shùn" (风调雨顺), which translates to "Good Weather, Rain, and Harmony." Architecturally, the Hall of the Four Heavenly Kings serves as a standard, fundamental gateway component in traditional Buddhist temples.

Antique Finishing

This is an antique patina-finished Four Heavenly Kings. This is not an antique statue. It is just an antique patina finish. This Four Heavenly Kings is a testament to the artisan's mastery of the art of aging. Its antique patina has been meticulously crafted to give the appearance of an aged statue, showcasing the artist's unique techniques and skills. Through undisclosed processes and careful aging treatments, the Four Heavenly Kings undergoes a transformation that captures the essence of time and history. Read More . . .

About Chocolate Oxidized

This Four Heavenly Kings has been meticulously treated with a chocolate color antique patina. The intention behind this patina is to replicate the appearance of a copper statue that has gracefully aged over a century. Unlike a simple coat of paint, this patina is not applied superficially and is designed to endure. It undergoes an artificial oxidation process that adds depth and character, while also serving as a protective layer against natural oxidation.
By imitating the natural aging process, the chocolate color antique patina lends an air of authenticity and vintage charm to the Four Heavenly Kings. This carefully crafted finish ensures that the patina remains intact for an extended period, offering longevity and resistance to wear. The result is a unique piece that captures the essence of a time-worn copper statue, evoking a sense of history and artistic heritage.

Lost-Wax System

This Statue Set of Four Heavenly Kings is made by the process of the Lost Wax system. This is a very complicated, time consuming and historic process of making metal sculptures.Which is why it is sometimes called Precision Casting as well. Hence the sculptures made by this process are comparatively expensive. There are many new, advanced and less time consuming methods of casting metal sculptures available as well. But due to the benefits provided by the traditional lost wax system in quality control and customization, we prefer the Loss wax system over Ceramic molding, or sand casting to make our Statue Set.
Below we have tried to illustrate the process of making a loss wax system statue: Read More . . .

Dhatarattha [Dhṛtarāṣṭra] â€“ Guardian of the East

Dhrutarastra is the king of the Gandharvas (celestial musicians) and the divine patron of music and harmony. In Buddhist art, he is depicted with a peaceful, composed countenance, reflecting a nature driven by deep compassion for all sentient beings. He employs the celestial melodies of his instrument not as entertainment, but as a spiritual tool to pacify negativity and convert beings to the path of enlightenment.

Primary Attribute: The Pipa (a traditional stringed lute or stringed instrument), held across his lap or torso.

Vessarana [Jambhala] – Ruler of the North & Chief of the Kings

Vaishravana is the supreme commander of the Four Heavenly Kings and the ruler of the Yakshas. He controls the element of rain, symbolizing both physical sustenance and spiritual abundance. Mirroring his historical origins tied to the ancient Vedic deity Kubera, his iconography heavily emphasizes protection, spiritual wealth, and cosmic security. He is typically depicted wearing heavy, intricate warrior armor.

Primary Attributes: A sacred umbrella (precious parasol) held in his right hand to shield the Dharma, or a divine pagoda/stupa representing the mind of the Buddha.

Virudhaka (Virūḍhaka) – Guardian of the South

Virudhaka is the king of the Kumbhandas (a class of spirits) and the ruler of the wind. Iconographically, he represents the vital energy that causes the "good growth of roots"—symbolizing the flourishing of meritorious deeds and spiritual development. He stands as a fierce defender of the Dharma across the southern continent (Jambudvipa).

Primary Attribute: A heavy, unsheathed sword held firmly in his right hand, representing the cutting through of ignorance and the protection of sacred teachings.

Virupaksha (Virūpākṣa) – Guardian of the West

Virupaksha is the king of the Nagas (serpentine deities) and functions as the all-seeing celestial eye in the sky. His name signifies wide-ranging vision or "broad objectives." In iconographic compositions, his gaze is sharp and discerning, allowing him to observe the spiritual state of human beings, identify those who have not yet encountered the teachings of the Buddha, and guide them toward spiritual conversion.

Primary Attribute: A mystical snake, dragon, or a sacred red cord representative of a dragon coiled in his hands, symbolizing his command over the hidden forces of the earth and sky.
